'As long as you love it, you're in the right place,' Dakota told Peopleon Sunday.

'Sometimes you're working in a cold, wet forest, and if you can still have fun there, then you're on the right track.'

Having been on screen since the age of five, her latest film sees a grown-up Dakota putting her survival skills to use in the psychological thriller.

Based on the 2021 novel by A.M. Shine, The Watcher follows Mina (Dakota), an artist on a road trip in Ireland who becomes stranded in an eerie forest after her car breaks down.

Mina takes shelter in a house with three other strangers, who are all watched by ominous creatures when the sun goes down.

Meanwhile, the film features the directorial debut of Ishana Night Shyamalan, the daughter of Oscar-nominated director M. Night Shyamalan, who serves as a producer on the flick.

While reflecting on working with the first-time director, Dakota shared that her experience was nothing short of great.

'She's such a cool person, and a person I'm happy is a friend now,' the Ripley star gushed to the outlet. 'She's full of so much energy and life and creativity. She had such a vision for what she wanted to do and was also open to collaboration with everyone.'

AndIshana returned the love for her movie's leading lady.

'I was blown away by working with her,' the 22-year-old said. 'She's one of those actresses that only comes from truth and always makes decisions that are real to her, and that adds such a depth and texture to the movie.'

Ishana, who also wrote the screenplay, noted that she grew up watching Dakota, calling her a 'sort of omnipresent being in our generation.'

But the writer wasn't the only fan of Dakota's on set. Many of the Taken alum's costars echoed their director's sentiments.

'It was really fun watching her work,' Georgina Campbell said. 'She's very intelligent. It was great working with her.'

Also on Monday she was seen in a one-strap black dress and matching Mary Jane shoes

Meanwhile,Oliver Finnegan said Dakota is 'incredibly focused,' noting, 'She's been doing it for such a long time, so she's a pro. Just to try to figure out how she does it was cool to be around,' asOlwen Fouéré added, 'She's very focused — no messing around.'

For their night in the Big Apple, Dakota rocked a forest green grown with a plunging neckline and trailing train. She kept the accessorizing to a minimum, simply adding a bangle bracelet to her wrist.

Meanwhile, Ishana donned a silver metallic dress that clung to her tiny frame and wrapped around her neck.

The filmmaker wore her dark hair slicked back and added silver earrings and red heels to finish off her look.

Dakota previously made her way across the pond to the film's London premiere.

The fashion was also impeccable on that carpet, with the NYU grad opting for a floral floor-length blue and white dress and black satin stilettos.

Back in April, Dakota took a moment to reflect on her longstanding career and her process in picking roles.

'When you don’t know what you’re saying, then you can just feel like a clown in a costume,' she said in an interview with Backstage. 'That’s the only way I know how to describe it. Being an actor, sometimes you a clown in a weird costume doing weird stuff—that’s part of it.'

'But if you can hold onto you’re doing it, then it doesn’t feel weird or goofy or embarrassing,' Dakota continued. 'I’m usually just trying to not be aware of the ridiculous aspects of what I’m doing, and that usually comes from [having a] deep understanding of why you’re doing it.'
