Kaitlyn Leeb is a popular Canadian actress, who starred in the “Heartland” series and could also have been seen in “Total Recall” and “Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments”. Kaitlyn is the mother of an eight-year-old daughter Avery Elizabeth, born in 2016, and second daughter Presley born in 2020 – her husband is Ted Leeb.

Born Kaitlyn Wong on 18 June 1988, in Toronto, Ontario Canada, into a family of Chinese and Irish descent, her zodiac sign is Gemini and she holds Canadian nationality. Kaitlyn matriculated from her local high school in North York, Toronto, in 2005, and then enrolled at York University from which she graduated in 2009 with a BA in Psychology.

Career

First steps

Kaitlyn started her career as a print and bikini model, and even won the Toronto CHIN Bikini Pageant in 2009. She’s worked with such companies and brands as FUZE fruit drinks, Virgin Mobile, and Dentyne Ice among others., and while still having plenty of offers from model agencies, Kaitlyn nevertheless tried herself as an actress.

She debuted in the TV series “Beautiful People” in 2006, in a minor role as a girl in the episode “Black Diamonds, White Lies”. In 2009 she was cast as Valerie in “The Jazzman”, and then appeared as Clementine Cheerleder in the series “Blue Mountain State” (2010 – 2011). She also landed the role of Julie 2009 in a popular TV series “Aaron Stone”, appearing in the episode “Pack-Man”. From 2010 to 2012 Kaitlyn appeared in such series and movies as “Locked Down” (2010), “Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings” (2011) and “The L.A. Complex” (2012 – present). From 2012 to 2014 Kaitlyn landed more roles in various TV movies, including “Grave Halloween” and “The Hazing Secret”. She also played Danica in “Backpackers” (2013 – present), appeared as Amanda in “Bitten” (2014 – 2016), and as Elsa Tessier in “Republic of Doyle” (2010 – 2014). In 2014, she landed the roles of Laila in “Seed” (2013 – 2014) and Lily in “Rogue” (2013 – present). One of her first major roles was as Jennifer Doolittle in the “Degrassi” series, appearing in several episodes between 2012 and 2014. She also started getting more recurring roles in series, thus playing Keira in five episodes of “Single Ladies” (2011 – present), Camille Belcourt in seven episodes of “Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments” (2016 – 2019), and Susan in seven episodes of the series “Slasher”, though her fans were upset when her character was taken off after those appearances.

Heartland

Her most significant work was that of Cassandra Lee O’Dell in “Heartland”. The series tells the story of the Flemings, the family who take care of their ranch with horses, showing their happy times and life challenges. Kaitlyn joined the cast in 2012, appearing in 17 episodes, the entitled “Decision Time” (2017). Kaitlyn’s Cassandra was firstly introduced as Tyler Borden’s classmate, who attended the veterinarian school with him and eventually became a vet in the same clinic where Tyler works. Cassandra was very ambitious, and often acted like a know-it-all, but after Jeremy Hughes who, she was romantically involved with, sabotages Heartland, Cassandra is fired. Scott Cardinal, a vet with a troubled background, convinced Tyler to take Cassandra back to their clinic.

Kaitlyn’s character also developed a close relationship with Caleb O’Dell, whom she eventually married in the end of the tenth season. The series has very positive feedback from both – the audience and critics. The thirteenth season of the series started on 22 September 2019, and ran for 10 episodes.

Current and future projects

Even though she had to take a small break from filming due to her pregnancy and giving birth to her first child, Kaitlynn soon got back to work, and starred in the TV movie “Christmas with a Prince” (2018), landing the role of Dr. Tasha Mason. She also appeared in another Christmas story, entitled “Christmas with a View” (2018), playing the role of Clara Garrison. Among her future projects there is the sequel of “Christmas with a Prince” entitled “Christmas with a Prince – Becoming Royal”, upcoming in November 2019.

She also landed the role of Leah in the new Netflix series “Spinning Out”, the story of Kat Baker, the ice-skater who does her best to get back into competition after a bad fall. In 2021, she appeared in “Christmas in the Wilds”, followed by the TV movie “Christmas With a Prince – the Royal Baby”.

Most recently, Kaitly has a recurring role in “The Spencer Sisters”, and a guest appearance in “Hudson and Rex”, all in 2023.

Armstrong Acting Studios

Kaitlyn is the lector in Armstrong Acting Studios, a training studio for actors. She is an active member of the community and participated in various events, such as “Working Actor Panel”, telling the story of her success and fruitful collaboration with Armstrong Acting Studios, along with such actors as Carson Maccormac, Amalia Williamson and Amanda Arcuri. The professional actors chat with the young ones, encouraging them to develop their acting and drama skills, revealing their failures which taught them something useful, etc. Kaitlyn also co-operates with ActEd Online, a virtual drama training facility.

Charity and volunteering

Kaitlyn is the Ambassador for Jake’s House Charity, the foundation and community which supports families with autism. Kaitlyn participates in various events and even employment mentoring, advocating people of all ages who live with autism. She has recently participated in the event held at Fox Harb’r Resort, spending the whole weekend with families, struggling with their autistic children or other relatives; the actress played golf with them, swam and simply chatted, supporting them on their hard way.

Kaitlyn also supports the LGBTQ2S community, and annually participates in the CIBC Run for the Cure Breast Cancer Walk with all the members of her family.

Personal life, husband Ted Leeb

Kaitlyn started dating her future husband Ted Leeb, an equity trader, in 2010. The couple shared a lot of mutual photos on their Instagram accounts, until Ted deleted his profile. Kaitlyn and Ted married in a private ceremony on 17 August 2013, and now have two daughters . Kaitlyn spends a lot of time with her family – they often go travelling and visit various resorts; they especially like Bali and Sri Lanka.
