Welcome to the South Bend Indiana FamilySearch Center. Whether you are a beginner or have been doing family history for years, we have experienced consultants on duty to assist you with your research. We can help you:
- create your family tree and then add to it
- learn how to use FamilySearch and its mobile apps
- gain free access to premium online genealogical sites while in our center
- access FamilySearch's extensive records collection
- record and preserve your personal memories
- schedule a family history activity for your family or church group
- scan your family photos
- learn to index historical records, helping you and others find records

South Bend Family Discovery Day
2024 Family Discovery Day!
Saturday, April 20th
9:00a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Class Topics:
- Searching with Google
- Hidden Treasures in Societies, Libraries & Archives
- FamilySearch Center Premium sites & Partner sites & how they can help you
- Digitizing memories (photos, slides, documents, etc)
- Using Ancestry DNA to Research your Family Tree
- Getting Started: How-To Sites & Beginning Your Research (laptop or tablet recommended)
- Dating Old Photographs: By Using Format, background & content, we can estimate the date it was taken
- Researching Beyond Record Hints in FamilySearch Family Tree
You may attend all classes or just one.
Child Care provided, ages 18 months-11 years old.
There will be a mid-day break for lunch. You are welcome to bring a sack lunch.
A laptop computer is suggested, but not necessary.

Tuesday: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Wednesday: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Wednesday: 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday: 3rd Saturday only-10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Closures
- The South Bend FamilySearch Center is closed whenever surrounding school districts are closed due to inclement weather.
- We are also closed:
- April 6-7, 2024
- 4th of July
- October 5-6, 2024
- Thanksgiving week
- December 19, 2024 through January 6, 2025
- Check the top of this webpage or signage on the door for unexpected closures.
