The Danish-based maker of Ozempic and Wegovy plans to add 1,000 jobs when another company manufacturing plant is built in a suburb of North Carolina’s capital. Novo Nordisk announced the expansion on Monday in the town of Clayton, near Raleigh. The $4.1 billion investment is billed by the state's chief economic recruiter as the largest life sciences investment in North Carolina history. The company says the project will be completed in stages between 2027 and 2029 and that the facility can be used for production of the popular weight-loss and diabetes medicines, as well as other treatments. Novo Nordisk already has three plants in the Raleigh-Durham area.
